Yesterday, Joe and I were studying the characteristics of friendship, and we came across the book of Ruth. We both have never read this book and found it very moving. I have actually learnt so many from these 3 pages! Here, I'd like to share with u...
Background
The book of Ruth talks about Ruth loyality to her mother-in-law . She was determined to stay and serve her mother-in-law althought her husband had already died and there was no prospect for her in doing so. Beacause of her love and devotion, God finally rewarded her with a great new husband and she became the great-grandmother of David and an ancestress of Jesus.
Favorite Verse (Ruth was talking to her mother in law) But Ruth replied, "don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. where you go I will go, and wehere you stay I wll stay. Your people will be my peopel and your God my GOd. where you die I will die, and there I will be bured. May the lord deal with me, be it ever so serverly , if anything but death seperates you and me." Ruth 1:16-17
New inspirations
Reading the book of Ruthl, I learnt how to talk with others and the lord For instance:
1. When greeting, insteatd of the borning "hi" we can say "the Lord be with you.", "the lord bless you" (Ruth 2:4 ) or something similar like that. Isn't that much more powerful??
2. When we pray, we can say "May I continue to find favor in your eyes, my lord" (Ruth 2:13)
Thx God for the wonderful inspirations.
How blessed are we to have the privalge to study the wonderful bible.
God bless u all!
Jane
