HI all! May the grace and peace be yours in abundance!
Today I met with my friend, Ruth, and her exahnge student for a bible study. I suggested that we study the topic of love because it's the Jesus said it's the most important thing.
Well, we looked at 1 Corinthians 13 and look at the definition of love. Ruth suggested that the idea of love is still kinda abstract, so we turned to 1 John 16., where it said "... God is love" . Now, to understand what love is, we can subsitue all the word "love" to "god".
For example, Let's change... Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast, it is not proud. (1 Corinthians 13:3) to....
God is patient, God is kind. God does not envy. God does not boast, God is not proud..... Doesn't that make it easier to understand?? I found it to be super helpful.
I also brought up the question about if your potenial lover is a non-believr for it was written, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? " 2 Corinthians 6:14 Can we date non-Christians?
The girl suggested a great analogy. We Christians are like people standing on a higher ground and the non-Christians are standing on the ground. If we hold hands with the non-believers, is it easier to pull us down or push our friend up? Of coz it's easier to be pulled down. But if we gather more believers and pray for that non-believers. That would be easier for us to bring us up.
Thx god for the wonderful msg
jane =)
