1.rape-related abortion dilemma

many people/philosophers/I(b4) believe it might be permissible to perform an abortion here, a special situation, why?

becoz- the baby is not mine and I haven't planned for that (I was forced to be pregnant, not my fault).

abortion in any case means killing something whether it is a small small embryo (which has no features as human being), a fetus, or a baby (which looks exactly like any human being)...

  • proponents of abortion argue, without human features like heart/brain/lungs, the little embryo doesn't n shouldn't be counted as a human life . Attention: there are large divisions among proponents on when does life begin! e.g. some believe the existence of a heart; some believes it's the lungs; some believes it's the brain.
  • opponents of abortion argue just the opposite way. e.g. proponents argue a little embryo doesnt count as a human ife while opponents argue it does count. Attention: there are again large divisions among the opponents on when does life begins!

therefore, the critical point is 1. when does life begins?. if we can know it, we can solve this issue easily and discard all the confusing n distracting arguments.

Does life begin when the fetus has some features like brain/heart/lungs which makes them a human life or does it begin even b4 the girl has got pregnant (God's plan)?

we go back to the truth, the Bible.

God said to the prophet Jeremiah, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5 God knew this man before he was born. (quote from bible.com)

Implication: God plans life, life begins even b4 the girl got pregnant. therefore abortion does kill life!!!

However, I can still argue that God gives us free will. What if I do something not according to God's will/purpose/plan and got pregnant (a life in my womb), which may or may not be planned by God?

Ecclesiastes 7:13 Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?

Implication: God's plan can't be changed by human's free will or wrong actions, consider the Almighty of God

ok, I am still not satisfied with it, I still believe it's human free-will. No problem. 2.What's the value and nature of our life? Can it be taken away by our decisions?

1 Corithians6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Implication: it's clear and obvious that our life is God's. the decision to take away our life can only be made by God! e.g. I rent a house. can I sell it to others when you are short of money? no, becoz the house is not mine (everytime we make decisions, we must pray for God's will before we decide!).

nice, now, we go back to the rape-related abortion dilemma.

is the the reason "I am not prepared for a baby" a strong enough and justified reason for me to kill a life? (I can see that in the life-threatening case, the reason- (our life) is way way stronger, we will analyze that v. soon)

No, not at all!!! simply unprepared is no reason at all!!!

other people might still argue that what if the borned baby will suffer in poverty... so many bad conditions? be careful!!! that's another argument which is unrelated but v. distracting!!!

remember: poverty doesnt mean a bad life- consider so many people living in poverty in developing countries, should we kill them all to end their suffering, becoz of their "low living quality"? No! Life on earth is a test and it prepares us for eternal life! richness and poorness in life is temporary on earth. we becomes rich when we know God and follow Christ and we remains miserably poor if we do not know God and choose to stay away from Christ even when we can earn millions.

Matthew 5:11 - Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

also, God has promised in the bible that those who suffer for his sake will receive great reward in heaven, which is n times better than earth's reward like money, entertainment, Olympic record... Let us all not be short-sighted and focus on our eternal life^^

therefore, our 1st dilemma- rape-related abortion is settled. thanks God for the counsel

    2.life-threatening abortion dilemma

this one is v. v. v. hard as it is not directly stated in the Bible or we can't find the verse. I shared it w/ my best friend Jane. finally, we got a solution- we decided to follow Jesus's example- John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

background: after some time of meditating with Jane, we still have no result or conclusion. we decide to take a role-play.

role-play- imagine I/Jane am a girl being raped and bitten up badly. then in the emergency room, the doctor tells me/Jane that you got pregnant but your health is so bad if you give birth you will die and you can only stay alive and recover by doing an abortion and giving up the life (baby). What will I/Jane do?

both of us concluded "I will rather die!". coz in this way, the best love (laying down one's life for others) can be fully expressed and we can fulfil Jesus's commandment to love even if it means giving up our own life for the sake of love of God and others.

then we discuss the accompanying essential issue- Is it worthy to die simply for love for a seemingly undeserved baby?

we read John, we once again touched by Jesus Christ our Almighty Lord

    John ch.15

  • 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
  • 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
  • 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
  • 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
  • 17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

T.T thanks God for your unconditional, forever love!!!

God dies for us sinners!!! we are n times more unworthy for his love and Jesus Christ dying for us than me/Jane dying for the baby!!!

God even calls us sinners friends!!! we are so undeserved!!!

in verse 12 & 17, God commands us to love others like Jesus loves us (lay down his life for us).

also, remember: the purpose of our life is not to keep our life, but love God, obey God's commandments, serve God and other people with love. God never tells us to stay alive and be safe.

Matthew 16:25 - For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it

therefore, it is clear the 2nd dilemma life-threatening abortion is settled by the love of God

    it is a decision

Are you willing to make a decision today to follow Jesus and love others in the way Jesus always love you and make a decision to lay down your life for others?

Jane and I have decided so and pray that God will guide us in this life and gives us courage to lay down our lifes for other people- to love like Jesus

Conclusion: neither pro-life nor pro-choice can solve the abortion dilemma. as we clearly see, life on earth is certainly not the most important thing to us (pro-life) and our decisions for our life is certainly not the most determining factor in our life (pro-choice). let's pro-God!

thanks God for your amazing indescriptable love. thanks Jane my best friend for the wonderful discussion.

reference- a great Christian passage on abortion

In the case of abortion, we need to re-think *who is in charge* (who has the authority?).  God or we?  The one who creates the world and us or we who are created?

    consider this:

I totally agree with what u wrote here! It is important to know that we must be careful of what we do and act towards others of the opposite sex! Knowing what you are going to be faced is better than not knowing! Experiencing the hard way is just not the way God wants us to do in todays society! We must remind ourselves, taking into abortion we lose a life of a child/person. If we take that life away, it will not only deteriorate our health, but you have obviously "kill" a life created by God. Willingly to take a life and bring it to the world is the most greatest thing God can present to us, if we take it the other way, are we not "loving" God and throwing it away? ARE we not breaking one of the 10 commandments right here at this moment, thinking of Abortion? This is not what God meant us to do! If you were to be judge at this moment in time, are you not afraid to be sent to Hell and give no choice of another chance in Heaven? Isn't it correct the way Joseph mentioned in this passage, that we are all given a chance to live here on earth? HE created us in different ppl, carefully crafting us and giving us some of His talents, skills, etc. before letting us come down here on earth to live? Why are we doing this to ourselves? Why go a waste what God spent so much time doing each and everyday He lives to bring us alive here on earth? The reason is really silly and our minds are so selfished and channelled in one path, our ego system is destructed thinking on the lines that "I didn't want this, let's kill the "embryo-child" before it is born!". This is the worst of the worst, besides committing adultry, and 1st/2nd Degree murder! This is a life that you have so "no-thinking" to take away and not waste ur effort and time to go thru! It is sad just to hear ppl do such kind of act that I think is thoughtless and really senseless in humans! All of us deserves a chance to life here and do the work of God? Am I not correct? Why are humans so dead-ended in thinking? I believe it is the doing of the Satan, that we lost all our senses and thoughtless thoughts to do such a thing! Abortion is not the way to go! Re-think what u do before you go do it! Let God's hand help you go thru this decision and believe that what u bring to earth is a
God's blessing to you and your husband/wife or just yourself! Amen!

P.S. Re-think what you do, your actions now that you do will be judged when the time comes!
